I think we have all been there. Wanting to take your SO out on a date, but every date you can think of costs a small fortune. So how can you go on dates that won’t cost you a fortune?

When funds have been tight in my life I have opted for taking a stroll in a nearby park or maybe just walking through the city window shopping. But when you have done that a couple of times, you have seen all you want to see of the shopping district. Or so it feels like. When growing up I would have loved to have a list like this available.

So what is it that you can do to have a special time with your SO, without having to spend a fortune on a date?

Here is a list of 20 date Ideas that won’t cost you a fortune.

1. Take a stroll through a park, ending with a picnic.
2. Take a walk through the city, window shopping while drinking a takeaway beverage, or just ending up at a cafe.
3. Having a movie night at either your or their place and maybe watching each other’s favourite childhood movie.
4. Visit a local museum to see an exhibit.
5. Go hiking if you are so inclined.
6. Go camping, again if you are so inclined.
7. Have a potluck dinner date or
8. just make dinner together and pool your resources. Maybe try some new kind of cuisine or something you think is fancy but seems difficult to do.
9. Go to an outdoor concert.
10. Go see a rehearsal for a play, opera, or concert. (the tickets are usually cheaper)
11. Try a new food truck.
12. Go to a local game.
13. Have an arcade night and get your retro gaming on.
14. Stargaze. Grab a blanket, put away your phone and just look up at the sky.
15. Take a tour of local sights. 
16. Go bowling.
17. If the carnival is in town, go just for the romance of going up the Ferris wheel together. And the candy floss.
18. Host a cheese and wine tasting at home or chips and soda tasting, the possibilities are endless on things to pair together.
19. Go to trivia night at a bar. Maybe you win something fun or just learn something new.
20. If you have a drive-in movie locally go to that. Else fix one at home in your living room or in the garden with a projector and a bedsheet.
